Why you should SMASH Deebo Samuel in 2024 fantasy football drafts!

Here is why you should SMASH Deebo Samuel at his current cost in 2024 fantasy football drafts!

On Drafters.com, Deebo Samuel is currently being drafted as fantasy's WR 14 around pick 19 overall, a mid 2nd round pick. He's a smash at that cost.

Why?

Deebo Samuel is quite literally a top 10 wide receiver in fantasy football if he's just on the football field with Brock Purdy.

Don't believe me?

In 17 career games where he played at least 56% of the offensive snaps with Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel is averaging 16.4 PPR points and 7.2 touches per game (4.5 catches).

For context, averaging 16.4 PPR points over a 17 game season would have made him fantasy's WR 9 overall in 2023.

He offers his fantasy football managers a solid floor, scoring 15 or more PPR points in 52.9% of Brock Purdy quarterbacked games, scoring 21 or more PPR points more frequently (35.3%) than he scores fewer than 10 PPR points (29.4%).

And if the floor wasn't good enough, he also offers an explosive ceiling, scoring 34 or more(!) PPR points 11.8% of the time with a high of 35.8.

Best part? Most of that is with Brandon Aiyuk on the field.

Predictably, it gets even better when Aiyuk—who officially requested a trade on 7/16/2024—is out of the picture...

In week 2 last season, Deebo caught 6 of 9 nice targets for 63 scoreless yards, adding 5 carries for 38 yards and 1 rushing TD, finishing the day with 22.1 PPR points on an afternoon where Aiyuk played just 53% of the offensive snaps after getting knocked out of the game with an injury.

And when Aiyuk missed week 3 entirely, Deebo caught 6 of 12 targets for 129 yards and 1 TD, scoring 25.1 PPR points and finishing as fantasy's WR 8 in week 3.

It doesn't appear likely at this point, but what if Aiyuk does get traded?

Even if he doesn't, remember that he scored 16.4 PPR points per game in 12 full contests with Aiyuk last season.

And if you take an even closer look at the numbers, Deebo's 2023 campaign was even better than the final results suggest...

Technically, Deebo averaged 15.6 PPR points per game and finished as fantasy's WR 15 in 2023, but if you remove 3 games where he played less than 34% of the offensive snaps, Deebo actually averaged a sterling 18.2 PPR points per game, which is a pace that would have made fantasy's WR 4 overall if sustained over a 17 game season.

And it's not like fantasy football dominance is anything new for Deebo Samuel, a guy who's just 2 seasons removed from finishing as fantasy's WR 3 overall in 2021.

If he—and Brock Purdy—just stays on the football field, you're getting a top 10 wide receiver with a solid floor and an explosive ceiling that gets even higher if Aiyuk is on the shelf (or in another jersey).

He's an easy pick at his current cost of WR 14 around pick 19 overall on Drafters.com, which is where I play 100% of my best ball. If you're planning on doing mock drafts to prepare for 2024 draft season, try some best ball drafts on Drafters instead!
