Why Christian Kirk is a STEAL in 2024 fantasy football drafts

👆 Episode 24 of Inside the 20 discusses what to expect from Travis Etienne, Christian Kirk, Brian Thomas, Evan Engram and the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024 fantasy football! 👆

Smash or pass? Are you drafting Christian Kirk in 2024 fantasy football drafts?

What you're about to read is straight out of BBFF's 2024 Fantasy Football Draft Guide. We do this for every single player, on every single team. Get your Draft Guide while it costs less than a case of beer!

Betting odds as of 6/13/2024

💰 Over/Under 850.5 receiving yards (-112 over, -112 under)

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a betting expert by any means, but assuming full health in 2024, 850.5 receiving yards seems awfully low for a guy who went for 1108 yards in 2022 and was on pace for another 1114 yards in 2023 before a season-ending injury, especially with Calvin Ridley and his 136 targets leaving town.

Kirk is averaging 66.8 receiving yards per game over 28 full games with Trevor Lawrence, a rate that would lead to 1,135 yards in a 17-game season.

Fantasy Football:

Christian Kirk is entering his age 28 season and year 3 with Trevor Lawrence, Doug Pederson and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He's been terrific in black and teal since signing a massive 4-year, $72 million contract during the 2022 offseason, averaging 14 PPR points and early 8 targets per game over 28 full games with Lawrence at QB.

He's offered a relatively safe floor with the Jaguars, scoring 15 or more PPR points in 14 of 28 games (50%), albeit with a somewhat limited ceiling, scoring 21 or more PPR points in "just" 6 of 28 games (21.4%)—though he does have a week-winning high of 31.5.

He averaged 15 PPR points and 8+ targets per game and finished as fantasy's WR 12 in 2022.

And he was averaging 7.6 targets and 13.7 PPR points per game over 11 full contests before a season-ending injury in 2023, a rate that would have made him fantasy's WR 16 over a full 17 game season.

Yet in 2024? He's being drafted as fantasy's WR 28 around pick 41 overall (mid 4th round)

Steal.

Sure, the Jaguars signed free agent Gabe Davis and spent the 23rd overall pick on LSU's Brian Thomas, and both guys are names to know in 2024 fantasy football.

But both guys are brand new to the Jaguars' offense, and neither one of them poses a significantly bigger threat to Christian Kirk's chemistry or target share than Calvin Ridley (136 targets in 2023) or Zay Jones (121 targets in 2022) did in the last 2 seasons.

The unquestioned lead target in an above average offense that's finished 10th & 13th in scoring, 10th & 6th in passing attempts, and 10th & 9th in passing yards in each of the two years that Doug Pederson has been the head coach, Christian Kirk is a rock solid WR 2 option that should offer the occasional WR 1 week.

Kirk is currently listed 37th overall in BBFF's 2024 Fantasy Football Draft Guide (see below) and an absolute SMASH at his current cost of WR 28 around pick 41 overall (mid 4th round).
