Week 2 Waiver Wire

👆 👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆👆 Take less-than-3-minutes to see the resource hundreds of fantasy football players are referencing when setting their week 2 lineups!🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆

Week 2 Waiver Wire

Below are the players I'm considering adding to my rosters before week 2 kicks off. All of these players are near or below 50% rostered in Yahoo leagues and therefore likely to be available in most leagues.

Important note: I'm typically pretty frugal with my waiver priority and FAAB, usually only spending on a player that can win me the week. In other words, if they're just "depth" adds and nice-to-haves that might not even see my lineup, then I'd rather wake up early on Wednesday morning and add them for "free" instead of using a waiver claim for them.

Pro Tip: It's a little extra effort, but I have a recurring Wednesday morning "appointment" (reminder) on my calendar with a link to a Google Doc. Inside that google doc are the links to alllllll 20+ of my leagues followed by a bulleted list of who I plan to add/drop in each one. This helps me keep track without spending waiver priority for convenience, a short-sighted move.

Quarterback

There are not any QBs I'd use a waiver claim on (in 1 QB leagues). That said, several of you Dak Prescott managers might be looking for some SOS help. Matt Ryan (43% rostered in Yahoo leagues) is my top streamer in week 2 (reasons why will be found in the week 2 Heat Map).

It also looks like there will be some sneaky shootout potential in the Commanders at Lions game—their 49.5 point over/under is tied for the 4th highest on the entire week 2 slate—giving both Carson Wentz (13% rostered) and Jared Goff (21% rostered) some streamer appeal. Wentz was actually the QB 3 in week 1 (27.72 points) and Goff's Lions have the 8th highest implied point total on the week 2 slate. Both are streamer options in week 2.

Honorable mention: Jameis Winston, Ryan Tannehill

Running Back

There are two RBs I'd use my waiver priority on this week if I need a running back:

  • Jeff Wilson (16% rostered) - Elijah Mitchell was placed on IR and is expected to miss 8 weeks at minimum. Next man up is Jeff Wilson and, although he admittedly didn't look terrific on his 11 touches (including 2 targets and 2 catches) for 30 yards, he operated as the crystal-clear RB 2 (now RB 1) for San Francisco. 3rd round rookie Tyrion Davis-Price and impressive UDFA Jordan Mason figure to work their way in, but this is Jeff Wilson's backfield for the next two months.

  • Rex Burkhead (13% rostered) - In the year of Dameon Pierce, Rex Burkhead came out of the gates firing with 19 touches for 70 yards (Pierce had just 12 touches—1 catch—for 39 yards. Burkhead received a very encouraging 8 targets (caught 5 for 30 yards) even during a positive/neutral game script (as opposed to one where the Texans would have to throw to keep up). Pierce will certainly take over as the season wears on, but Burkhead is squarely in the RB 2/3 mix with usage like that.

There are several others I'd be interested in adding to my team depending on what I need. I likely would NOT spend waiver priority on these, but I'd wake up early to nab them on Wednesday morning:

  • James Robinson (58% rostered) - 12 touches—including 1 catch on 2 targets—for 69 yards (nice) and 2 TDs in week 1. Out-touched Travis Etienne 12-6 and stayed involved throughout neutral game script.

  • Jamaal Williams (47% rostered) - 12 touches—including 1 catch on 2 targets—for 30 yards and 2 TDs. 40% of the team's backfield touches even despite trailing.

  • Kenyan Drake (12% rostered) - 12 touches—including 1 catch on 1 target—for 46 yards in week 1. Will JK Dobbins be ready for week 2? Drake is the RB 1 in Baltimore if not.

  • Isiah Pacheco (31% rostered) - 12 carries for 62 yards and 1 TD in week 1 blowout. Technically he led the backfield in touches but it's important to note he got most of his work in clock-killing duty of the garbage-time blowout. Still, this likely won't be the Chiefs only blowout of the season, and Pacheco could be useful in scenarios where the Chiefs are expected to win big.

  • Zack Moss (6% rostered) - 12 touches for 36 yards in week 1. Most importantly, 6 of those touches came on 6 targets/catches.

Honorable mention: Khalil Herbert, Alexander Mattison, Sony Michel, Samaje Perine, Dontrell Hilliard, Eno Benjamin, Kenneth Gainwell

Wide Receiver

There is 1 wide receiver I'd use my waiver priority on this week if I need a wide receiver:

  • Curtis Samuel (5% rostered) received cheat code usage in week 1, registering 4 carries for 17 rushing yards, plus 8 catches on 11 targets for 55 receiving yards and 1 TD. He's very clearly a part of Washington's offensive scheme and needs to be added everywhere.

There are several others I'd be interested in adding to my team depending on what I need. I likely would NOT spend waiver priority on these, but I'd wake up early to nab them on Wednesday morning:

  • Donovan Peoples-Jones (4% rostered) - 11 targets, 6 catches and 60 yards

  • Jarvis Landry (42% rostered) - 9 targets, 7 catches, 114 yards

👆👆👆 If you're hurting at WR, I wouldn't fault you for using a claim on those guys. 👆👆👆

  • Zay Jones (12% rostered) - 9 targets, 6 catches and 65 yards

  • Corey Davis (6% rostered) - 9 targets, 6 catches and 77 yards

  • Garrett Wilson (21% rostered) - 8 targets, 4 catches, 52 yards

  • Kyle Philips (1% rostered) - 9 targets, 6 catches, 66 yards

  • Robbie Anderson (10% rostered) - 8 targets, 5 catches, 102 yards, 1 TD

  • Tyler Boyd (56% rostered) - 7 targets, 4 catches, 33 yards, 1 TD

  • DJ Chark (40% rostered) - 8 targets, 4 catches, 52 yards, 1 TD

  • Noah Brown (1% rostered) - 9 targets, 5 catches, 68 yards

  • Some guy named "Greg Dortch" (0% rostered) - 9 targets, 7 catches, 63 yards

  • Mecole Hardman (30% rostered) - 6 targets, 3 catches, 16 yards, 1 TD

  • Jakobi Meyers (38% rostered) - 6 targets, 4 catches, 55 yards plus 1 carry for 7 yards

  • Jahan Dotson (23% rostered) - 5 targets, 3 catches, 40 yards, 2 TDs

  • Treylon Burks (46% rostered) - 5 targets, 3 catches, 55 yards

Honorable mention: Jauan Jennings, Marvin Jones, Nelson Agholor, Romeo Doubs, Ashton Dulin, Ben Skowronek, Braxton Berrios, Richie James

Tight End

There are not any TEs I'd use a waiver claim on. But there are several guys on the streaming radar that I'd add on Wednesday morning:

  • Taysom Hill (10% rostered) - the "tight end" had 4 carries for 81 yards and a TD. There's some potential "cheat code" in here.

  • Tyler Higbee (55% rostered) had an encouraging 11 targets in week 1

  • Hayden Hurst (10% rostered) - 8 targets, 5 catches and 46 yards in week 1

  • Tyler Conklin (2% rostered) - 7 targets, 4 catches, 14 yards, 1 TD in week 1

  • Kylen Granson (0% rostered) - had 7 targets, 3 catches and 22 yards in week 1. Now has a high(ish) implied point total in week 2 against a Jaguars defense that so far has allowed the 10th most PPR points per game to TEs despite only facing the Commanders.

  • Logan Thomas (6% rostered) - 6 targets, 3 catches, 45 yards in week 1. Potential shootout in week 2 with a Lions defense that just allowed 60 receiving yards to Dallas Goedert.

  • Gerald Everett (27% rostered) - 4 targets, 3 catches, 54 yards and 1 TD in week 1. No Keenan Allen in a week 2 shootout with the Chiefs who just allowed the 15th most PPR points to tight ends.

Honorable mention: Kylen Granson, Juwan Johnson, Robert Tonyan, Evan Engram

Team Defenses

Here are the defenses I'd be looking to stream in week 2:

  • Steelers vs Patriots. Pittsburgh turned Joe Burrow over an insane 5 times and scored a TD on their way to a whopping 26 fantasy points in week 1. In week 2 they will be at home against an injured Mac Jones in a game where the Pats are expected to score just 21(ish) points.

  • Browns vs Jets. Joe Flacco and the Jets expected to score just 17(ish) points.

  • Bengals at Cowboys. Dallas will be starting Cooper Rush. Cowboys expected to score just 17.75(ish) points.
