Field of Streams - Week 7

For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.

The NFL changes quite a bit from week to week and year to year, I will try to help alleviate your concerns and focus on players that I would try and stream. This year more than ever (Thanks, COVID) will be difficult to Stream. Most leagues have expanded rosters, so this year, I will be looking at only players who are available in UNDER 50% of Yahoo leagues. All options may not be available in your specific league.

Week 6 was huge if you were paying attention! You were provided with not 1… not 2… but THREE QB1’s with Tannehill’s 36.56 fantasy points, Kirk Cousins’ 32.72 fantasy points, and Ryan FitzMagic’s 21.04 fantasy points finishing as QB3, QB4, and QB11, respectively. Tight End was great also, with Darren Fells finishing as the TE5 with 17.5 fantasy points. Defense/Special Teams held up its end of the bargain also, the Dolphins 17 fantasy points and the Giants 14 fantasy points finished as the 3rd and 6th best DST performances of the week

This Week's Streaming Beer of Choice: Louie’s Demise, Milwaukee Brewing Company

Our flagship brand; this medium-bodied amber ale starts with a rich malt flourish that’s kept in perfect balance by a smooth hop finish.

Quarterback

Jimmy Garoppolo @ New England, 27% owned

Jimmy GQ finally looked healthy this week and the stat line showed it. He has multiple touchdowns and zero interceptions in 3 of his 4 games so far this year, plus, who does not love a good “revenge game” narrative?

Baker Mayfield @ Cincinnati, 36% owned

The Browns offense as a whole looked like trash against Pittsburgh, but the Steelers are one of the best defenses in the league. Hopefully, Baker can rebound against a team he already threw 2 TD’s on back in week 2.

Andy Dalton @ Washington, 46% owned

Dalton and the Cowboys as a whole were not good, only to be exaggerated by the fact that it was on prime-time television. He gets Washington who gives up the 9th most fantasy points to the QB position. Hopefully, he can rebound for a respectable week.

Tight End

Logan Thomas vs Dallas, 14% owned

The volume has been there for Thomas, seeing at least 4 targets in every single game so far. Dallas showed that they are beatable at basically every level. If Kyle Allen can provide some competent QB play, Thomas could have another solid week.

Greg Olsen @ Arizona, 19% owned

Olsen had a down game his last time out, but the 2 games prior, he had 5 catches in each. Arizona was a cheat code for Tight End matchups last year, and while they are improved, they are still not a daunting matchup. Let’s see if Olsen can find the end zone this week.

Jordan Akins/Darren Fells vs Green Bay, 5%/6% owned

Back to the well again. The Tight End position for Deshaun Watson has been a security blanket for him this year. If Akins is back in the lineup, he could find pay dirt, otherwise fire up fells.

Honorable Mention: Dallas Goedert (if healthy)

Defense/Special Teams

Los Angeles Chargers vs JAC, 28% owned

The Jaguars yield points to whatever DST they face. They are just a step up from the Jets or Washington Football Team. If Melvin Ingram is back this week, they will keep Minshew running for his life all day.

Cleveland Browns @ CIN, 24% owned

The Browns got to Cincinnati for 3 sacks and 1 turnover in their week 2 matchup, it would not surprise me to see similar numbers this week. The pass rush is real, and they are getting a tad healthier in the secondary.

Philadelphia Eagles vs NY Giants, 32% owned

Danny Dimes cannot stop turning the ball over, which bodes well for an Eagles team who does not generate that many on their own. The Giants Offensive Line going up against a Defensive Line with 21 sacks in 6 games, I expect the pressure to force the Giants into some negative situations. The veteran Eagles should be able to capitalize.

Stay tuned next week to see the results from all the players mentioned above, as well as my streamers for next week. Follow me on Twitter for more updates and insight @jjgosh
