Field of Streams - Week 6

For those of you new to fantasy football, or if you are just looking for a new strategy, “Streaming” is the idea of selecting somebody from the Free Agent pool or waiver wire based on favorable matchups. This strategy is particularly effective if you failed to draft an elite player at QB, TE, or DEF.

The NFL changes quite a bit from week to week and year to year, I will try to help alleviate your concerns and focus on players that I would try and stream. This year more than ever (Thanks, COVID) will be difficult to Stream. Most leagues have expanded rosters, so this year, I will be looking at only players who are available in UNDER 50% of Yahoo leagues. All options may not be available in your specific league.

Week 5 had some hits and misses. Teddy Bridgewater’s 25.82 points were good enough to be the QB10. Kirk Cousins did not quite take advantage of the matchup as I thought, but he still finished as the QB15 and did not lose you your matchup. Eric Ebron’s 4.8 points were good enough for a TE18 finish, but to show you how valuable touchdowns are to the TE position – a TD would have vaulted him up to TE8 on the week. Defense and Special Teams was a huge winner, all 3 of Cleveland, Arizona, and Dallas finished as top-12 options, finishing 4th, 6th, and 9th respectively. Check out who you can Stream to victory in week 6!

This Week's Streaming Beer of Choice: Third Space Brewing - Happy Place

Midwest Pale Ale

Bright hop aromas meet flavors of citrus, stone fruit, berries, and passion fruit in this flavor-filled yet supremely balanced hoppy pale ale. A meticulously selected blend of malts allows the full hop flavors to shine while keeping this brew smooth and balanced. This beer will take you to your happy place.

py place.

Quarterback

Ryan Tannehill vs HOU, 48% owned

It seemed like ages between the 2 games Tannehill last played. Houston played with a better pace without Bill O’Brien, so if this game gets a pace boost, paired with Tannehill’s rushing floor, he could have a real solid game against a sub-par defense.

Kirk Cousins vs ATL, 32% owned

Cousins did not finish in the top-12 last week with a very good matchup against Seattle, but this week he gets quite literally the best matchup you can have. I expect multiple touchdowns and 300 yards for Kirk this week. Fire him up with confidence.

Ryan Fitzpatrick vs NYJ, 21% owned

The matchup is not necessarily as good as you’d think, but FitzMagic doesn’t care. He’s going to continue to chuck it, regardless. It could lead to 3+ Touchdowns, or 3+ INT’s. Not necessarily the safest streaming option, he is still one of my favorites.

Tight End

Jimmy Graham @ CAR, 40% owned

I hit on how Touchdown dependent the Tight End position is earlier. Graham is as good a bet as any to fall into the end zone. It will never be a sexy pick again, but he is a solid streaming option.

Irv Smith vs ATL, 6% owned

I already touched on how good of a matchup ATL is for Quarterbacks, they are a fantastic matchup across the board. He ran more routes than Kyle Rudolph last week and saw 5 targets. I expect for him to build on that in this great spot.

Jordan Akins/Darren Fells @ TEN 8% and 2% owned

I am hedging a bit here, but Jordan Akins prior to going down was on the field all the time and running plenty of routes. However, in his absence, Darren Fells had a long TD. At the time of this article, it is unclear if Akins is healthy, but either one of these guys can have a good game against Tennessee.

Defense/Special Teams

Washington Football Team @ NYG, 7% owned

With Washington’s phenomenal defensive line and the Giant's lackluster offensive line, I expect Danny Dimes to be under constant pressure. He is not even good with a clean pocket, so do not expect him to be great in the face of a blitz.

Miami Dolphins vs NYJ 3% owned

The 49ers were a tad beat up, but the Dolphins hung 5 sacks and forced 3 turnovers in that game. The Jets are a much better matchup. Watch for the defensive backfield to play some tricks on Joe Flacco and get a couple of turnovers.

New York Giants vs WAS, 1% owned

I am not proud of this. But Washington should not be proud of its football team. Last-ditch streamer if you need it, the Giants can be played, but not with confidence.

Stay tuned next week to see the results from all the players mentioned above, as well as my streamers for next week. Follow me on Twitter for more updates and insight @jjgosh
