💰 3rd best odds of winning the AFC (+700)

💰 5th best odds of winning the Super Bowl (+1400)

Fantasy Football:

The Cincinnati Bengals are entering year 6 of the Zac Taylor era and year 5 with Joe Burrow under center.

It’s been a mostly successful stretch for the Bengals under Taylor/Burrow, winning 53% of their games with a 5-2 record in the playoffs (71%), including a Super Bowl appearance in 2021.

Burrow, of course, is the key that starts the Bengals’ offensive engine:

🛑 Cincinnati has finished 16th or worse in scoring and 22nd or worse in offensive yards in all three seasons that Zac Taylor was the Head Coach but Joe Burrow played fewer than 11 games (or not at all).

🟢 On the flip side, the Bengals have finished a much stronger 7th &7th in scoring and 13th & 8th in offensive yards in the 2 seasons where Burrow played 16 games.

In other words, when Joe Burrow is on the field, Cincinnati boasts an offense to target in fantasy football, and he’ll be on the field come week 1.

That said, as great as they are in the passing game—Cincinnati’s finished 7th or better in passing yards, 7th or better in passing TDs and 8th or better in net yards per pass attempt in each of Burrow’s 2 full seasons—Cincinnati’s had a terrible team-level rushing “attack” during the Zay Taylor days, finishing:

🛑 17th or lower in rushing attempts in all 5 Zac Taylor seasons, including 3 campaigns of 24th or lower

🛑 23rd or worse in rushing yards in all 5 seasons, including 29th in 2022 and 31st in 2023

🛑 19th or worse in rushing TDs in 4 of 5 seasons

🛑 22nd or worse in yards-per-attempt in all 5 seasons

Of course, handling 19.8 touches per game over 69 very nice contests with Zac Taylor and finishing as fantasy’s RB 14 or better in 4 of 5 seasons, Joe Mixon masked Cincinnati’s porous rushing numbers thanks to his workhorse volume.

But Mixon is gone now, taking his 309 touches with him to Houston and leaving a running back room that’s now filled with question marks for fantasy football players. Will Zack Moss and/or Chase Brown inherit Mixon’s workhorse role or—more likely—will the two form a committee that’s frustrating for fantasy football purposes?

The questions don’t end in the running back room, as longtime WR Tyler Boyd is now in Tennessee after spending his entire career—8 seasons—with the Bengals, leaving fantasy football managers to guess who will be Joe Burrow’s new number 3 target, a role that’s been fantasy fruitful in the past.

SO… The question is…

What should we expect from Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Zack Moss, Chase Brown, Jermaine Burton and Mike Gesicki in 2024 fantasy football?

And do we want to SMASH or PASS at their respective costs in 2024 fantasy football drafts?

Check out episode 25 of "Inside the 20" (video above) to dive deep into the answers to those questions!
